Random Pokemon Generator v2.2
Jun 12 2021
Sorry for the delay, May was a busy month for me and June doesn’t seem to be slowing down either! There’s still a few more “nice to have” updates I’d like to do on this Randomizer, then it might go on a bit of hiatus to start on a some other generator ideas I had.
Random Pokemon Generator – What is this?
Push button > get a bunch of randomly generated Pokemon. Many of these exist on the internet, but mine has a ton of filters and you can generate as many Pokemon as you want!
Updates:
- Advanced filters tab!
- The Basic and All filters tabs, control filters in a set way: multi-select filters are an OR operator (a Pokemon must match at least one of the selected values to be returned in the randomizer) but between all the different filters it is an AND operator (a Pokemon must match all filters set).
- The Advanced filters tab give more fine tuned control over these selections, though with that means there’s a lot more to set. Full details are available on the Help section (see footer section on site), but basically for each filter option you can select whether a specific value is required, optional, or excluded. So for the Type filter you can now require the Fire type, have Flying and Rock be optional, and exclude Water.
- Also there’s now a Show/Hide filters button which will hide all the filters (doesn’t prevent them from working though, helps for mobile users or those who want the filters out of the way once set).
- Multi-select Filters are better – I’ve updated the multi-selects to be toggle-able buttons. Previously they were just HTML’s standard multi-select field. They worked, but were not intuitive for all users to use to select multiple values (which is the whole point).
- Filter toggle enhancements
- There’s now an arrow icon on the filter show/hide box which helps show if the filter is open or not.
- Help icons have an asterisk (*) if they will navigate you to the Help section instead of opening a box right where they are.
- Individual filter updates
- Base Stats, Battle has a Reset All button.
- Generation options now show the core games instead of region. It’s still for the generation when the Pokemon’s form was introduced, but I’m hoping this mnemonic indicates that better.
- Tags filters split into separate toggles.
- Help updates
- Section headers have an arrow icon to help show if the section is open or not.
- Split Filter Behavior into three categories: Basic, Advanced, and Numeric filters.
- Added Generation explanation.
- Minor UI updates
- General optimizations – less stuff for your browser to load when you visit the page means faster Pokemon generation for you!
As always, thanks for reading my release notes! Here’s a nice link to the generator.
